Decreasing the orphan rate through AIDS Education
In the early years of our ministry, as our teams entered each village where we were ministering in the remote African areas, the reality and the impact of this disease was right in our face evident.
HIV and AIDS are horrific diseases. They are epidemic in the African nations we serve. Many of the people in villages we encounter will die this year. Thousands of children will become orphans with no one to care for them.
Here’s Life is making a difference in the villages we serve, not just in salvations but in lowering the spread of AIDS in Central and East Africa. We showed the AIDS Education video to 1.6 million people last year.
At one of the AIDS film showings the villagers began to weep and moan, so loudly that it overwhelmed the sound of the video. The team stopped and asked why they were weeping. One lady said, “The lady dying with AIDS on the video was from our village and had to watch her die all over again.”
The affect of AIDS is unbearable to these African people. No child deserves to lose a parent. No one needs to lose a family member or loved one to this terrible disease. Yet millions die every year from it.

In most locations where Here's Life Africa teams show the Jesus Film we also show an excellent HIV/AIDS education and prevention film. To date, more than 6 million Africans have seen this film. Combined with vector borne diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS is one of the primary causes of sickness and death in Africa.
